The “new year” is now halfway over again. Time to sum up your New Year’s resolutions and goals for 2023. In our private and professional lives.
What have we not resolved everything: Lose weight, exercise more, spend more time with the family, stop smoking, … or from a business perspective: optimize processes even better, meet deadlines, distribute responsibility better within the team, etc. These are probably the same as they were a year ago. And six months later you realize that you haven’t achieved any of them. But why is that? These resolutions are like the flower boxes on the 1st floor, while you haven’t even started building the house yet. The foundation is missing. The base is WHY losing weight is good, WHY responsibilities should be better shared among the team, etc….
Cleaning Out, First
Before you establish new habits as a person or in a business sense it is a good first step to weed out habits. Means, not to bring habits into the new year, which are not good for yourself or your goals or which block them and to keep already established habits, which you do not want to give up or which have turned out to be positive.
The Fundament
Why did you develop certain habits in the first place? What does which habit do for you? These questions are the basis for resolutions that can actually establish change in what you do, who you are and how you achieve your goals, the foundation so to speak.
